Origin and properties: Hemp is cultivated in Europe and America. The seeds contain 26-35 % oil of a brownish, greenish-yellow or dark green color with a mild, slightly hay-like smell and taste. The oil is obtained by pressing at low temperatures and subsequent mechanical filtration.
Use: The high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids makes hemp oil a particularly valuable and easily digestible natural food oil. In cosmetics, it is increasingly valued for its fatty acid composition (gamma-linolenic acid) as well as for its naturally appealing image.
