Propolis is a versatile natural product. Propolis is the resinous, gummy, balsamic substance secreted by certain plants. Due to its antimicrobial and germ-inhibiting effect, it is collected by bees and slightly modified to serve as a coating for the honeycomb and as protection in the entrance area of the beehive. The raw propolis used for the propolis products comes exclusively from South America. This raw propolis is freed from wax and other undesirable components by means of gentle alcohol extraction and subsequent fine filtration and then processed into liquid or powdered propolis extracts.
